[QUESTION] help with corrupt backup?? Plz???

FINAL EDIT: GUYS, WE DID IT!! I wish I could grant all of you reddit gold or something to show how happy I am right now. This backup meant over 4 years of information and thanks to everyone who helped, I was able to restore my photos, messages, call logs, contacts, notes, and even small things like homescreen wallpaper and icon layout. Needless to say, it was a tedious process but I managed to do it all with iBackupBot. I didn't spend a dime and got what I needed back. In case anyone ever needs this, my process went like this:

All these plugins and configuration will help to provide you a. After that simply click next to proceed to the next step. But actually, you don’t need to choose any of the things as these are the plugins and configurations. Psp iso pack.

  1. Locate the correct backup in iBackupBot and right click duplicate backup to make sure in case anything ever happens, you can still always extract something to still have on your computer.

  2. Then right click on the same back up and click restore to device. Select the device and make sure you select partial restore as I was only able to make it through that. If you want to try full restore, you are welcome to if you wish.

  3. You should be brought up with and error, read it and make sure you know what its saying, most of time its a file that needs to be deleted in the backup though the application. For me and a few others, it was 'Lexierra_ja_JP-dynamic-text.dat' that was found in Library/Keyboard/ of the backup. Simply deleting that might fix the problem for you.

  4. I unchecked the user application data and only check necessary system data like contacts, messages, camera Roll, whatever you need/want. I also checked 'other system settings' since that usually signifies icon layout, wallpapers, tweak preferences and so on.

  5. Let the program do its thing and this should ultimately lead your phone to reboot and show the apple with loading bar under it signifying it's applying the backup restore.

  6. After the phone turns back on, you can see that the restore went though and applied. After this you can repeat steps 3-5 except with application data if you absolutely need it.

I know it's a lot but it's free and should hopefully bring back whatever you need back on your device. Thanks guys

Guys, I am in a moment of despair right now. I was in the jailbreak community since 2008 and only encountered this now. Here's the story, I backed up my phone. I have an iPhone 5 iOS 8.1 32 GB with about 27 GB used on it, and my computer had about 28 GB free on it. After a first backup, it was fine, no errors or any significant signs of something bad. I then continue to further strip my phone of unneeded items before my update to have something as clean from old trash as I possible could. Several backups later, still no errors and comp storage is at 14 GB (I'm assuming the backup took 14 GB since photos totaled up to 10 and other things made another 4.) I understand applications aren't backed up directly that's why the backup was not my total 28 GB. So I proceed to the jailbreak. Everything goes off perfectly I previously did a cousins phone right before mine and managed to jailbreak his, restore his backup from before, and he was 7.0.4 so that was a rather large leap. I see I did his and then went on to the whole process with mine. After the restore and jailbreak, I plug it back into iTunes and hit restore backup to be greeted with the lovely message, 'iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the device being restored.' I have several questions for you guys and they are:

  1. Is there a legit way to fix this backup if it is actually corrupt and manage to restore it back to my phone?

  2. If not, are there ways to copy sections of it, let's say the camera roll, to another backup and restore from that?

  3. If number 2 can be done with things like messages and call log as well I'm not asking for third party apps that can save the data from the backup to the computer, I already have 4 of said apps that all do the same thing, but not the things i wanted. I had contacts and notes and such in iCloud so there was that saved but the camera roll, messages and phone log are all that I really still want salvaged and copied back over to the phone. Thank you guys so much if you know of any answer. I will be very grateful

Edit: I'm sorry to ask this, but if you do not know the answer, would you mind sharing the post so it can get attention? I was really hoping for help from people on the present and not from Apple discussions back in 2011. Thank you guys

EDIT 2: So many people helping and I'm here at work thinking there is a light at the end of the road. I appreciate everything but the one think I can't do is pay for anything right now. I have no money to spare or cough up and I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating but I really mean I am barely keeping up with essential expenses and need a pretty much free solution if it's available. Thanks again for everything guys. This community is the best.

EDIT 3: Ok so since I'm at work right now, there isn't much I can do but just read and take in all the great advice and help being given to me. Hopefully, when I come home, I can test several different cases:

  1. Use iExplorer to navigate the 'corrupt' backup like a filesystem and see if I can perform the necessary surgery to bring it back to life,

  2. Use iBackupBot to restore partial parts of the backup that I need or try and use the repair function on that as well,

  3. The one that I don't really feel is the best for my situation money wise is to use the decipher tools and repair my backups like that to hopefully spring it back and use it. But this is the one that I really have to save to the very end because I'm In a tight spot with money right now.
