Gears of War is a third-person shooting game developed by Epic Games. The game was published in 2006 by Microsoft Studios for Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One platforms.

Gears of War is the first instalment in a game series of five games released by Microsoft Studios. The game stars a soldier named Marcus Fenix who is tasked to lead and destroy the Locust Horde and save humanity. This third person shooter game gives the player an over the shoulder perspective.

The game emphasises on cover based combat system that allows a player to utilise objects to deter incoming firing and to engage enemies safely. The game features multiplayer mode where players can join forces to compete against AI and can compete against each other as well. This feature is exclusively available on Xbox live version of the game and is quite popular amongst the players.
